About Sound Waves Publications

Sound Waves Publishing was set up in 2008 by Pam Wedgwood, Louise Howden and Debbie Needle, and is all about helping ensemble players and schools to enjoy making music and musical productions.

When playing and singing music is made fun and inspiring, then musicianship and confidence improve as a natural consequence.

Sound Waves' original scores, sheet music and delightful musical productions have been tried and tested by musicians and schools across the UK.

Pam Wedgwood Pam Wedgwood is recognised around the world as one the UK's most prolific and successful composers of popular repertoire for young instrumentalists.

Pam studied French Horn, Piano, Cello and Composition at Trinity College of Music, London. She then went on to concentrate on performing as a freelance musician in most of the major orchestras in and around London.

As an orchestral player and music teacher, she developed key skills in ensemble writing and arrangement. Pam writes ensemble works which are musically satisfying without being too technically challenging, as she understands the needs and practical difficulties of players at various grades.

For the last 20 years Pam Wedgwood has been writing music for Faber Music and has sales of over half a million publications to date.

Louise Howden Louise Howden studied Bassoon and Piano in Australia, graduating with a Bachelor of Music Degree from the Canberra School of Music, and is a tutor for the National Children’s Orchestra of Great Britain.

Louise has extensive experience with orchestral playing, including the Australian Youth Orchestra, ensemble playing and teaching in the wider educational musical scene.

On moving to the UK, she set up a busy teaching practice, which continues strongly today, teaching all ages, all levels, individual and ensemble groups. She actively uses the methods first taught by Hungarian Composer Kodaly.

Louise also regularly proof reads and edits for Faber Music.

Debbie Needle Debbie Needle has many years' experience as a Junior School teacher and Deputy Head and has dedicated many happy hours producing Nativity plays and school productions.
As a result of her practical experience in running and writing school plays, Debbie has gained a great insight into what children are capable of achieving, and what they aspire to achieve.

" The enjoyment seen on those many little faces, after a school performance, has led me to further pursue my writing talents. Upon meeting Pam Wedgwood, and forging a great friendship, I realised that combined with her musical talents, these plays transform into wonderful Christmas creations. I hope our musicals inspire you and your students, and bring joy to your teaching environment."
